Wolves bare teeth versus P.T.’s Redskins

While their classmates were on spring break, Sequim’s Wolves were busy breaking out their big bats against Port Townsend.

Sequim pitchers Demiree Briones and Makayla Bentz combined on a five-inning no-hitter and their offense tallied 19 hits in a 21-0 home win against the Redskins on March 29.

Cindy Miller and Rylleigh Zbaraschuk paced the Sequim batting order, combining for seven hits and seven runs scored. Miller was a perfect 4-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Michelle Abell and Alexas Besand were each 2-for-3, with Abell driving in two.

Lea Hopson doubled and drove in two runs while Briones was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

On the mound, Sequim was nearly perfect. Briones gave up a walk in her three innings, striking out six Redskins. Bentz struck out four in her two innings of work.

Sequim catcher Bailey Rhodefer served as battery mate in the no-hitter.

A March 28 date at Olympic was rained out.

Sequim was slated to play at Kingston April 4 and host North Mason on April 5 — results were unavailable at press time.

The Wolves are scheduled to play at Klahowya today and at White River in Buckley on April 8.

Sequim hosts Bremerton on April 11, plays at Olympic (Silverdale) on April 12, plays at league-leading Port Angeles on April 13 and hosts Sumner on April 13 — for a total of eight games in 12 days.
