The winner may have come in the final moments of play, but it still counts as a notch in the win column.

Sequim got its first Olympic League victory on April 21, knocking off Klahowya 2-1 thanks to a score from senior Nick Camporini in the 80th minute.

Sequim denied Klahowya their first win since April 2008 — a streak of 49 consecutive defeats.

Klahowya took the lead in the third minute behind a score from Ryan Fredrick, but Sequim got the equalizer eight minutes later when Camporini found Gerry Azanza for a score.

Sequim outshot Klahowya 13-3 in the second half but only netted one score with Camporini’s winner.

The win helped Sequim rebound from a 3-1 loss to rival Port Angeles on April 19. Roughrider Anthony Brandon had two goals and an assist as Port Angeles raced to a 3-1 halftime lead and it held up.

Omar Flores scored Sequim’s lone goal at 18 minutes and that halved Port Angeles’ lead. Azanza had a shot to make it 2-2 with a penalty kick but Roughrider keeper Jack Doryland knocked it away.

The Wolves were scheduled to host Port Townsend on April 26 — results of the game were unavailable at press time.

Sequim is at North Kitsap on April 28 and host Olympic on May 3.
