The seventh year of the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games, formerly the Port Angeles Senior Games, is scheduled for Friday-Sunday, Aug. 26-28.
Events include Olympic Games-styled events — basketball, swimming and track & field — and nontraditional events such as pinochle, indoor rowing and horseshoes.
The games features 18 sports open to men and women who will be 50 years old or older by Dec. 31.
Athletes can participate in as many sports as their time and schedule permits.
Registration for the games and a $20 participation fee is required; fee includes a T-shirt. Early bird pricing is $5 off registration.
Opening ceremonies are at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles.
A “hoe-down” theme celebration banquet is slated for 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Park View Villas, 1430 Park View Lane, Port Angeles, located between Eighth and G streets. Banquet tickets are $22 and reservations are required.
