Several wrestlers from an already short-handed Sequim wrestling squad were taken down by illnesses before their match with Bremerton last week. 

The Knights took advantage, winning all but three matches in a 51-17 win in Bremerton on Jan. 17.

"Our dual with Bremerton didn't go like I had hoped it would," Sequim coach Charles Drabek said. "We have had a lot of our kids sick and weren't able to field a full enough lineup to be able to compete."

A highlight for the Wolves came in the 285-pound weight class, as Sequim's Nathan Allison overcame an early takedown to pin Abraham Bartlett at 1:15 in the first round.

At 132 pounds, Sequim's Brandon Field had an easy time in a 17-1 technical fall victory against Knight Jacob Reilly.

"(Brandon) had him on his back in near-fall position in all three periods to dominate the match from beginning to end," Drabek said.

Sequim also received a forfeit win at 138 pounds, with Jody Allen picking up the uncontested win.

Sequim's Emily Halverson wrestled an exhibition match at 106 pounds, rebounding from a 7-2 deficit to pin Grus Jorgenson at the 3:04 mark of the second period.

Bremerton's Brandon Hansel picked up an upset win against previously ranked Royhon Agostine, 12-10, at 126 pounds.

"He seemed to be a little lackluster and I am hoping we can turn it around before postseason rolls around," Drabek said. "I am positive we can work out the kinks and get him back on track to his winning ways."

The Knights received six forfeit wins from Sequim.

The Wolves are back in action Jan. 23 at North Kitsap (Poulsbo), then take on both Port Townsend (5 p.m.) and No. 7-ranked Port Angeles (7 p.m.) at home on Jan. 24.
