They say we're entitled, narcissistic, lacking work ethic, constantly needing affirmation of our overinflated self-esteem and we just won't leave the shelter of our parents and let them BE already! Well, I say I deserve a day off for my hard work, some recognition for it's superior quality and yes, Mom, I will be at dinner on Sunday.

I'm just trying to hold on to my youth, really. Aren't we all?

Finding my niche online

There is a niche on the Internet for people like me.

By that I mean educated, working women in their 20's. I don't know if they've given us a name yet; we're a subset of the Millennial Generation.

Living in Sequim, where there are only a hundred (give or take) "people like me," it can feel isolating not having much of a community of peers with which to interact and exchange ideas, information and share experiences. Someday, I'd like to live somewhere I can be part of a book club with other women my age where we read Emily Giffin and Kristin Hannah and discuss character development over a glass of red wine. In more than two years here, the closest I've come to that is overhearing women a couple decades older than I talk about a woman who recently "tried out" for their book club and didn't make the cut. Ouch. Not quite what I'm looking for.

It's not that I don't socialize with women my own age around here; but thank god for the Internet.

I haven't made it through the full list yet; but I'm interested to see if any happen to be  online book clubs. <wink>
