PIRATES END SEASON WITH LOSSES TO CARDINALS

Port Angeles — May 10, 2008

Neither team was playoff-bound, but the scores showed quite a disparity.

Skagit Valley topped Peninsula 6-2 in the opener and 19-0 in the second game of a May 10 doubleheader in Port Angeles, ending the Pirates’ season with a 5-31 conference mark, second-to-last in the NWAACC North division.

Missy Minor and Bethany Holt each had two hits in the opener and Sierra McCoy capped her P.C. career with a solid game, but the Cardinals out-hit the Pirates 12-5 for a four-run victory.

In game two, Peninsula saw the pitching debut of Kayla Ralston and suffered the double-digit loss. The Pirates managed just two hits — Ralston and Damaris Craig — while the Cardinals got 21 base hits, four from former Sequim High standout Chantal Hughes.

Other than four forfeit wins against Edmonds, Peninsula managed just one on-the-field victory this season.
