Instead of leading cheers from the sidelines, Sequim and Port Angeles cheerleaders were the ones making plays on the field on Sept. 9 in what organizers hope is an annual “powder puff” flag football game. The event was a fundraiser for breast cancer research and drew more than 200 spectators. Sequim cheer coach Carmen Wiker said the fundraiser brought in nearly $1,100. Wiker said she hopes the contest is an yearly prelude to the Sequim-Port Angeles boys football games. |
