Winless in their last six meetings, Sequims Wolves finally found a way to defeat their rivals from Belfair. The Wolves battled to a straight-set win against rival North Mason on Sept. 10, topping the defending Olympic League champions 27-25, 25-23 and 25-22. The girls were like, About time! We were just a little more steady, Sequim coach Jennie Webber Heilman said. They (North Mason) graduated eight or nine seniors; they basically have a brand new team, Webber Heilman said. Caitlin Pallai and Maddy Zbaraschuk paced Sequims offense with eight kills each while Taylor Balkan added a pair of aces. Sequim earned a triple win Thursday night, winning the varsity, junior varsity and C-team matches, each in straight sets. Sequim hadnt beaten North Mason since September of 2004. Sequim added a non-league, five-set win at Interlake on Sept. 11, outlasting the Saints 13-25, 25-16, 11-25, 25-23 and 15-12. Sarah Donahue led the Wolves with 19-of-20 on serves while Sara Hankins had 22 assists and Pallai added two blocks. Sequim hosts Klahowya on Sept. 17 and Kingston on Sept. 22.
