Some people just want it all. Those people are in luck: You now can have your fresh-roasted Rainshadow Coffee and drink it, too.

Don Batcheller, owner of the popular bean-roasting retail and wholesale company, has opened Rainshadow Roasting’s Coffee Bar at 147 W. Cedar St. in Sequim, across from City Hall.

The new facility replaces the old roasting shop on Third Avenue and expands the possibilities. While Batcheller still is roasting, packaging and selling bags of ground coffee at the shop (and wholesaling it to outlets across the peninsula), aficionados of his popular beans also can enjoy a fresh cup of the stuff. A bunch of different varieties are available, including Ethiopian, Guatemalan and Dungeness Dark. Each can be prepared on-the-spot in different ways: hand-poured, brewed or made with an AeroPress or a French press.

To go with the java, try some of Teresa Rampp’s gorgeous pastries, which are handmade fresh every morning. In addition to sweets, Rampp also provides items that make a nice light lunch, including on one recent day fresh quiche. All of Rampp’s items are organic.

The cafe’s interior is coffee-chic, with recycled-art tables by Marlow Metalworks and walls featuring the work of local artists. Through July, Terry Grasteit is hanging his brilliant oil abstracts.

And don’t miss Rampp’s flower arrangements, which are unique — and very cool.
