Port Book and News, 104 E. First St., Port Angeles, will take part in World Book Night U.S. on Monday, April 23.

World Book Night is an international nonprofit dedicated to promoting reading by sending volunteers into the community to share specially printed, free books in locations as diverse as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, ballparks, mass transit and diners.

A half million books will be given out in the U.S. alone.

The books are chosen by a panel of booksellers and librarians through several rounds of voting. The printing of the free copies is possible due to the generosity of the authors, publishers and book manufacturing companies.
