Nov. 3 and Nov. 10
Nov. 10 is the last Saturday of the season on Cedar Street.
By Lisa Bridge

New at the market this week are Brussels sprouts, celery root and parsnips!

According to our Nash’s correspondent, Devon Beck, “They are super sweet Brussels sprouts because they have had a chance to sweeten up in the colder fall weather that has visited us on the peninsula as of late. Yum yum! They are a great food with which to transition to the winter time, roasted up with pine nuts or simply steamed, they are delicious.

“Celery root is also new this week. A fantastic roaster, but also a wonderful addition to yummy cold-weather soups, grated raw on salads or into hash browns or layered into gratins or casseroles.

“Last, but not least, are parsnips. These sweet baby roots are back in town so roast them up side by side with our carrots, add some salt to go savory or some cinnamon and brown butter to go sweet like yams or make them into ‘snip fries!’” Thank you, Devon.

We are very grateful for many aspects of this market season. Our proud sponsors BrokersGroup Real Estate, Hanna Construction, Mountain Propane, Discovery Memory Care, Bell and Davis PLLC and the Sequim Lavender Growers Association have made this year possible.

Without the generous sponsorship from these outstanding businesses, we would not be here.

Also, thank you to all the businesses and sponsors of this 2012 market season. We love to be integrated into the business community here in Sequim and offer many opportunities to make that happen.

We look forward to working with you all next year.

The market had many new and returning vendors this year. We are fortunate to have a wonderful community of vendors, many of whom had a very successful season. Look for information about joining the market on our website and keep an eye out around town for fliers regarding our February meeting for new and returning vendors as that time nears.

A big thanks to the City of Sequim and the Chamber of Commerce for all the support you give to our market. It makes a real difference that we work together so well.

For your holiday shopping, be sure to come to our indoor “Holiday Show” at Carrie Blake Park. Nov. 17 is the date of our annual Holiday Show inside the Guy Cole Center. It’s from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with live music by Cort Armstrong from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Feast on delicious baked goods and sandwiches provided by The Red Rooster Grocery.

Shop local for the holidays at our Holiday Show.

We are looking for new vendors, especially farmers or produce growers. To learn more, go to our website at www.sequimmarket.com.

See you at the market!
