Womanfest and Olympic Cellars Winery will jointly host their ninth annual International Women’s Day celebration at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Olympic Cellars Winery, 255410 Highway 101, Port Angeles.

International Women’s Day, March 8, is a global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women, past, present and future. Participants can show support by joining Womanfest for dinner, with a suggested donation of $10.

Proceeds from dinner will be donated to one local and one international charity. On the local front, the recipient will be Serenity House’s Hill House, a facility in Port Angeles providing 10 temporary beds for homeless women and four bedrooms for boarding long-term tenants.

The international organization selected to benefit from the evening will be Women for Women International. It provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies.

A  portion of wine sales for the evening also will be donated to these causes by Kathy Charlton, owner of Olympic Cellars Winery.

Following dinner, Kathy Wahto, executive director of Serenity House, will provide a brief presentation, followed by Barbara Wise, who will overview the projects of Women for Women International.
