St. Luke's Episcopal Church invites the community to an evening of music performed by the new St. Luke's choir under the direction of Lorraine Martin.

"The Festival of Lessons and Carols" will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at St. Luke's, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

Within a tradition that was established at Kings College in England almost a century ago, Lessons and Carols will be presented with a wide repertory that includes "a 'Negro' spiritual, an African-American gospel and a Puerto Rican carol." Classics from Bach, Britten, Mozart, Faure, Schutz and Praetorius will be featured.

Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra members will support the choir with instrumentation.

Admission is free and attendees are advised to come early for a seat. A reception will follow the concert.
