The Story People of Clallam County present a weekend of accomplished storytelling and workshops at the 18th annual Forest Storytelling Festival from Friday-Sunday, Oct. 19-21, in the Little Theater of Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Events begin Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. with a pre-festival workshop, "Telling Personal Stories," with two-time Grammy-winning storyteller and author Bill Harley; $50 preregistration is required.

General registration for the full weekend ($75) and separate storytelling workshops ($20 each) begins at 6 p.m. Friday.

At 7:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday, featured storytellers Harley, Lyn Ford, Robert Owens Greygrass, Anne Rutherford and Allison Cox appear in concert (tickets $12). Ford tells folktale adaptations and original stories from her area of Appalachia. Greygrass specializes in Native American stories and comic personal narratives. Rutherford often lights on trickster tales, the supernatural and Northwest folklore.

Cox uses song and humor in her stories of healing and community. Pat Peterson is emcee for the festival.

Sunday's schedule includes a free concert of inspirational stories, stories by Cox and Harley, and the raffle drawing for the quilt by Phyllis Luther.

To register, visit www.dancingleaves.com/storypeople or call Cherie, 417-5031, or Rebecca, 360-866-6308.
