Port Angeles High School’s Select Chamber Orchestra plays November’s Music Live with Lunch Tuesday, Nov. 20, with direction from conductor Ronald Jones. St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, hosts the monthly program with music for 30 minutes and a meal afterward. The  program features “Russlan and Ludmilla Overture,” “Serenade” with three parts, “Fascination,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Hungarian Dance No. 5.”

This March, the orchestra flies to Carnegie Hall to play; CDs sold at the concert will help with their trip. Players include, on violin, Erin Hennessey, Sam Langley, Carly La, Jay Liang, Selbey Jelle, Leah Marsh, Bethanie Johnson and Marc Henry; on viola, Elizabeth Helwick, Josh Basden, Roisin Cowan-Kuist and Connor Leslie; on cello, Kyle Bozich, Trey Hoover, Jeremy Choe and Kate Haworth; and on bass, Michael Helwick.

The orchestra and its counterparts have won numerous awards, including the large string ensemble division of the Washington State Ensemble Contest multiple times, and small ensembles and individuals have won their divisions. Jones has been director of orchestras at Port Angeles High School since 1975 and his musical career ranges from symphonic performance to conducting and teaching. He has received numerous awards as a music educator, including being elected into the Washington Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 2006.

Tickets for the show are $10 and are available at St. Luke’s office, which is open 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Phone 683-4862 ahead of time for tickets. St. Luke’s donates a portion of money received to local charities.
