2Far blends art, music
Port Angeles' 2nd Friday Art Rock (2FAR) features art by Brandon Davis and music from Twisted Roots at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Bar N9NE, 229 W. First St. Twisted Roots' Bob Lawrence and Marty Kaler play an acoustic mix of finger-style guitar, ukulele, banjo, dobro, weissenborn guitar, lap steel guitar and humor. Local artist Brandon Davis specializes in line drawings, mostly design markers on vellum in bold colors. There is a $3 cover charge.

Celtic Christmas features Geoffrey Castle
The Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts presents Geoffrey Castle's Celtic Christmas Celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Port Angeles High School auditorium, 304 E. Park Ave. In addition to Castle's six-string electric violin music, special guests include the Gothard sisters and Somar Macek with the Heart by Heart band. Tickets are $20 general, $15 youth. Artist signs book on 'eclectic coffee spots'
Marsha Glaziere signs her new book "Eclectic Coffee Spots in Puget Sound" from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Undertown Coffee and Wine Bar, 211 Taylor St., Port Townsend. The book mentions Olympic Peninsula coffee spots, including Espresso Garden in Gardiner, and Glaziere's paintings, sketches, recipes and maps accompany the text.

Adult group takes on Caldecott winner
Caldecott Medal winner and modern children's classic "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" by Brian Selznick will be discussed by the PALS adult book discussion group at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Print copies of the book are available at the library while supplies last; the book may be purchased from Port Book and News at a 20-percent discount by mentioning PALS. Preregistration is not required and drop-ins are welcome.

'24-Hour Theatre' benefits P.C. drama students
24-Hour-Theatre takes the stage at the Peninsula College Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29. A group of actors and writers, led by Port Angeles resident John Manno, will gather exactly 24 hours earlier to write, rehearse and produce a play. Elks host New Year's Eve dance
The Old Sidekicks play for and sponsor a New Year's Eve Dance from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road. Tickets are $10 single, $15 couple. Light snacks are available.

P.C. auditions for 'Equus'
Auditions will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, and Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, for Peninsula College’s winter drama production, Peter Shaffer’s "Equus." Auditions are in the Peninsula College Little Theater and are open to everyone, especially people age 18-40s. Performances are March 1-3.
