The Clallam County commissioners are relocating meetings due to upcoming renovations.

Generally, the commissioners' Monday morning work sessions and Tuesday morning board meetings are held in Room 160 in the Clallam County Courthouse but that room is getting a face-lift and about a dozen meetings have been relocated.

Aldergrove Construction is installing carpeting, an image projection system and a podium and will paint the room. Other technological improvements will be made to the space as well.

The work comes shortly before the lower west wing of the courthouse receives improvements, making room for new office space and the relocation of a lunchroom. The lower west wing will receive a new floor, paint and some new construction to create more office area.

The reorganization of the west wing will allow more room for health department staff and is being done with future relocation of the health clinic in mind so the space can be used by other departments once the clinic has moved. The county purchased office space across South Lincoln Street on Third Street for its health clinic, which is in the courthouse's west wing.

The reorganization of the basement and the new office space for the health clinic are part of a coordinated county effort to utilize the area in the courthouse in an effective way.

For more information about commissioner meeting dates and times or to learn about individual departments and activities in Clallam County government, visit www.clallam.net or visit the courthouse at 223 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles.
