Clallam County Superior Court Judge Brooke Taylor sentenced Michael Hendricksen, 22, of Sequim, to 109 months, or just more than nine years, in state prison and $1,150 in fines for two charges of rape of a child in the second degree, both class A felonies.

The judgment, which was handed down Aug. 22, came nearly one year after the original charges were filed against Hendricksen on Aug. 23, 2007.

The case did not go to trial, however. Instead, Hendricksen took a plea deal with Clallam County prosecution.

He pleaded guilty to the two counts of child rape and in return prosecution dropped additional charges of custodial assault, which Hendricksen received while awaiting trial on the rape charges. He allegedly jammed soap into the locks of his cell and assaulted the corrections officer who came to clean out the mechanism.

The two rape charges stem from an Aug. 17, 2007, incident where Hendricksen reportedly picked up 13- and 14-year-old females in his car in Sequim and took them to Railroad Bridge Park where he coaxed them to consume alcohol and sexually assaulted the pair. He was 21 at the time.

Hendricksen is restricted from ever contacting the victims of his crime.

Because the charges involved a sexually related offense, Hendricksen must register with his local sheriff for the rest of his life. The state Department of Corrections also will track him for the remainder of his life though regular appointments and monitoring.

Once released from prison, Hendricksen must remain in a set geographical area, abstain from alcohol or drug use, abstain from contacting or communicating with female minors, submit to physical or psychological testing, enter into a sexual deviancy treatment program, register as a sex offender, pay victims' counseling costs and remain out of places where children tend to gather.
