Band boosters host car wash

The Sequim High Band Boosters are sponsoring a car wash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Nov. 15 at the old First Federal building in the J.C. Penney shopping center on Washington Street.

Donations are accepted.

The group is continuing fundraising efforts for spring season parades and trips, including a trip to Anaheim, Calif., for the Heritage Festival.

Students and parents wishing to participate can contact Colleen Robinson at 683-6936.



Choir fundraiser features debut of 'Express' band

For the third year running, singer Tracy Blume is joining the Sequim High School choir at the choir's annual fundraiser.

This year, she'll have even more help.

The choir event, "We've Got Magic To Do," is slated for 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the high school's Performing Arts Building, 533 N. Sequim Ave. It features the debut of the Olympic Express Band, a collection of some of the Olympic Peninsula's top musicians.

The band, along with Gary McRoberts on piano, backs up the choir during the choir's half of the show.

Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults. For more information, call 582-3600.



College series continues

Peninsula College's annual Studium Generale educational series is in full swing, with events most Thursdays in the fall.

On Nov. 6, Olympic National Park archaeologist Paul Gleeson is the featured speaker. On Nov. 13, author Irving Warner is scheduled to speak. On Dec. 4, the presentation features seasonal music by college music department.

All events are noon-1 p.m. at the college's Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. in Port Angeles.



First Teacher hosts

flurry of activities

The First Teacher classroom at the Sequim Community School (Room 4W, 220 W. Alder St.) is the site of a number of family activities each Friday.

On Nov. 7, families are encouraged to bring real or stuffed pets to the annual Pet Parade. Sequim Police officer Darrell Nelson is on hand to talk about "The Importance of Monitoring Interaction between Children and Dogs." Local veterinarian Brian Marts answers pet animal questions.

The First Teacher room will be closed Nov. 27-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

First Teacher is a resource for parents of newborn to school-aged children. Normal hours are 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. For more information, call 582-3428.
