Peninsula College Christian Student Fellowship recently chose officers for the 2008-2009 school year.

Elected president was Jessica Brooks, a sophomore from Sequim.

Vice president is Alex Wilkens, a freshman from Forks; secretary is Andy Stone, a freshman from Sequim.

Co-advisers are Kathy Craven, a nursing professor, and Francis Kyle, Port Angeles First United Methodist Church youth pastor.

The group meets noon-12:50 p.m. Wednesdays for Bible study and prayer in the conference room of the Associated Student Council. It sponsors five to eight outreaches per year, the most recent being its fourth annual Christmas gift giveaway.

"PCCSF provides an excellent opportunity for those interested in Christianity to learn more," Brooks said.

"We're a friendly club and have a wide variety of ages and denominations represented among our membership."

Although the fellowship is nondenominational, its primary financial supporter has been the board of higher education and campus ministry of the United Methodist Church's Pacific Northwest Conference.

The club rejects funding from the school's student council, citing separation of church and state.

Instead, it looks to area churches, individuals and denominational boards for contributions.

Since 2002, an estimated $60,000 of merchandise has been given to the campus and community through the fellowship.
