Irrigation Festival

Royalty Pageant

tickets now on sale

The 2009 Irrigation Festival Royalty Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Sequim High School auditorium.

The pageant is a scholarship event to select the royalty who will best represent the Sequim community. Festival royalty accompany the float as it travels throughout the state on the float parade schedule.

The royalty are community-minded high school students who volunteer their time by working with the festival committee and promoting community involvement.

Advance tickets for $5 are available at Solar City and Westsound Bank. Tickets also will be available at the door.



200 years of Darwin

A celebration of the 200th birthday of evolutionary biologist Charles Darwin includes a screening of the Nova/WGBH Boston production of "Judgment Day: Intelligent Design on Trial" at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 11, and a lecture and question-and-answer session from Peninsula College's Center of Excellence director Dr. Dwight Barry at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, both in the Little Theater at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Free, sponsors include Peninsula College Foundation, The Center of Excellence and the People for Science Literacy. 452-3234.
