PUD science competition goes video

Two or three minutes of video now for resources in the future.
That's the idea behind Clallam County Public Utility District's eighth-annual "Power for the Future" student science competition on March 21.
This year's event is a video challenge asking students in grades seven-10 to detail how their schools can - or do - conserve energy.
Video presentations need to be in AVI format.
PowerPoint presentations are allowed and should use Windows version XP or later.
Entries may be submitted on CD-ROM, DVD or by e-mail.
All entries meeting the requirements are to be posted on the PUD Web site shortly after the entry deadline.
Hoping to increase participation in the event, organizers have increased the grand prize from $500 to $1,000 and People's Choice Award from $250 to $500 if they receive at least 50 entries.
Other categories include: Most Innovative Energy Conservation Idea, Most School Spirit/Participation, Most Creative Presentation, Best Documentary of School Energy and Conservation in Practice.
Other prizes include cash, cash cards, MP3 players, ice-cream/pizza/skating parties.
At the final event, event organizers plan to show award-winning presentations, announce winners and award prizes. Event tickets are free to all contestants (and up to two of their guests) and $1 each for all others.
