The planning commission's March 17 public meeting on the proposed Priest Road Center project, that includes a Schuck's Auto Supply store, was postponed indefinitely.
Planning Director Dennis Lefevre said a number of issues arose after meeting with the applicants that afternoon.
City staff thought it was best to postpone the planning commission's public meeting on the project scheduled for that night and the city council's April 13 public hearing until an undetermined date, he said.
City staff will continue meeting with the applicants and the public meeting and public hearing will be readvertised, Lefevre said.
The proposed Priest Road Center is slated to include a Schuck's Auto Supply plus three other retail, restaurant and office spaces.
The project is located on the northeast corner of the Priest Road and West Washington Street intersection, across Priest Road from Walmart.
The city's State Environmental Policy Act analysis released March 3 concluded the project would not have any significant environmental impact.
The development that first was proposed last July is planned to have four buildings totaling 70,775 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space on six acres, according to the city's meeting notice.
The developer is Sequim-Y3K LLC, which includes Ed and Kathrin Sumpter of
Sequim and Frederick and Donna Garner of Gresham, Ore.
The city also plans to make the east half of Brackett Road a one-way street in response to the project and other growth in the area.
Traffic would be allowed westbound only from Brackett Road's intersection with West Washington Street to where it meets North Ninth Avenue.
