Comb your hair and put on your Sunday best. The newest Sequim Community Photo is set for 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the intersection of Washington Street and Sequim Avenue.

Jean Wyatt, Irrigation Festival marketing coordinator, said the actual photo will be taken about 3 p.m. and should take about 15 minutes.

"We want as many people as we can get. You're welcome to come as a group. T-shirts are OK but no signs," she said.

The photo will be made into limited-edition posters and sold as an Irrigation Festival fundraiser for $15 each, Wyatt said.

The posters will be pre-sold on April 11 along with Irrigation Festival products, she said.

The posters will be available for pre-sale until the festival, set for May 2-10 this year, Wyatt said.

"We pre-sell until the festival. Then we order some percentage beyond that for sale and when those are gone, they are gone," she said.

Wyatt said the last community photo was done in 2000. The picturs, she said, are taken "periodically."

"I saw the photo and thought it would be a great thing to do for the festival. We've thought about doing it every year but we want to see how it goes. We don't want to lose money.

"I think it's a good thing because it shows how the town grows and changes."

The last Sequim Community Photo was taken in April 2000 by Dave Martin Photography of Olympia after completion of the

Sequim bypass project.

Wyatt said some prints of that photo still are available.

Interim City Manager Linda Herzog told the city council the Seattle firm that is recruiting a new public works director wanted to include the 2000 photo in its recruitment brochure because it was such a good reflection of the community.
