Sharle Osborne's fourth-grade class at Helen Haller Elementary led the annual salmon release March 24 at the Hurd Creek Fish Hatchery. The class received 500 eggs from the hatchery, which they raised in an aquarium in their classroom.
At left, Paris Lukens and Taylene Eldredge, right, were two members of Osborne's class who helped kindergarten through fourth-grade students release the young salmon into the water that leads to Dungeness Bay.
Students named their fish and a few examples were Frankenstein, Punisher and Swimmer.
Above, Stephanie Grotzke's kindergarten class was one of the classes from Helen Haller Elementary to visit Hurd Creek Fish Hatchery to release young salmon into a stream that flows into Dungeness Bay.
