The Sequim Education Foundation Film Festival and spaghetti dinner is slated for Friday, April 24.

The dinner is from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Sequim High School cafeteria (601 N. Sequim Ave.), followed by the film festival at the Performing Arts Building, 533 N. Sequim Ave.

The dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, a Caesar salad, bread, dessert cake, punch, coffee and tea.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors 65 years of age or older, $5 for children 12 years old or younger, and $25 for a family pass of up to five immediate family members.

Tickets are available for advance sale at Pacific Mist Bookstore and Bedazzled (next to the Buzz). Proceeds from this dinner will go towards Sequim Education Foundation scholarships for Sequim students.

The film festival, set to start at 7 p.m. that evening, is free; donations of $5 at the door are recommended.

All films are student-produced. The competition is open to all students enrolled in grade six-12 classes in Sequim Public School District including middle school, high school, home-schooled and Running Start students.

Categories include drama and comedy, documentary and commercial videos, music videos and animation. An independent panel of judges examines each entry's creativity, academic and educational value and technical ability. Winning teams will divide scholarship awards and cash prizes worth nearly $7,000.

The Elkie Award trophy will be presented for the video chosen at the festival by the audience's response.

For more information about the dinner, call 582-0096 or 681-0699. For more details about the film festival, see www.sequimeducationfoundation.org or contact Elna Kawal at elna@sequimeducationfoundation.org.
