The first day of candidate filing on Monday drew 18 hopeful people, according to Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand.
One Sequim City Council race and one SARC race emerged early Tuesday morning, but they were the only ones before press time in east Clallam County.
Former councilor and Planning Commissioner Bob Anundson filed for the Position 3 seat being vacated by Paul McHugh.
He is opposed by Sequim Planning Commissioner Mike East, who filed Tuesday morning.
Incumbent Councilor Walt Schubert filed for re-election to his Position 2 seat. Incumbent Councilor Bill Huizinga also filed for his Position 1 seat.
Jan Richardson filed for Commissioner District 1 in the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center District.
The incumbent for that seat, Susan Sorensen, also filed.
The other east county candidates to file on Monday:
_ Gary Coffey for Commissioner District 1 in Clallam County Fire District No. 3.
_ Jon Kirshbaum for Director District 2 in the Sequim School District.
_ Arlene Engel for Commissioner District 1 Position 2 on the Olympic Medical Center's board of directors.
_ Jim Leskinovitch for the Commissioner at Large on the Olympic Medical Center's board of directors.
_ Jim Cammack for District 3 Position 1 on the Olympic Medical Center's board of directors.
Candidate filings for local, statewide and legislative races runs through 4:30 p.m. June 5 at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles.
Filings are accepted by mail if received no sooner than two weeks before the filing period begins and no later than the last day of filing.
If an office is void of filings, there will be a special filing period on June 10-12 to allow filings for only those positions.
