Two Port Angeles residents face DUI and vehicular homicide charges after a Sequim woman died from injuries in a car-motorcycle collision Sunday, Aug. 16, in west Port Angeles.

Port Angeles Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said Monday evening the investigation isn't complete.

But it appears the woman, 45-year-old Shelly Marie

Bartlett, was a passenger on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Roger Dean Mallicott, 46, of Port Angeles.

The motorcycle crashed into a Ford Expedition driven by Lovera Marjorie Blackcrow, 29, of Port Angeles, on the north side of Edgewood Drive near Dry Creek Road about 1:35 a.m. Sunday.

Bartlett died Sunday evening at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Both Mallicott and Blackcrow were arrested and booked into the Clallam County jail on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular homicide.

The pair are scheduled for arraignment at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, in Clallam County Superior Court.

Because the victim died, the officers had probable cause to book both the driver of the Expedition and the motorcycle driver for vehicular homicide, Smith said.

"If you are intoxicated and driving and one of the outcomes of that is a person's death, the proximate cause of that person's death is your drinking and driving," Smith said.

Smith said Washington State Patrol investigators would be in Port Angeles Tuesday afternoon to conduct mathematical plotting of the scene to better determine what happened.
