The North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival is Oct. 2-4 in Sequim. It includes a museum art exhibition, education demonstrations, fiber arts market and a lecture by The Singing Weaver.

Events:

Art exhibit

An opening reception for the fourth-annual North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival is from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the Museum and Art Center, 175 W. Cedar St., as part of Sequim's First Friday Art Walk. The public is invited to meet the artists for the "Cultural Fiber - Civilization, Ethos and Strength of Character" exhibit that runs through Nov 28.

Demonstrations

From 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, there are live demonstrations at Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road, and downtown at the Museum and Art Center and Sequim Open Aire Market at 175 W. Cedar St.

Fiber arts market

Local vendors will available from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3-4, at the Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road.

Lecture

The North Olympic Library System is sponsoring a lecture by Nadine Sanders, The Singing Weaver, from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct 3, at the

Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., and 7-9 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Sanders, a musician and international weaving teacher, will present a montage of music, projected images and cloth in a program titled "Beyond Plaid: Fiber Artists and Music of Scotland." The lecture is free to the public and all ages are welcome.

Workshops

Workshops on quilting, basket-making, knitting, felting, spinning, dyeing and crocheting are on Sunday, Oct 4. For workshop descriptions, fees, enrollment forms and more information, see Web site fiberarts festival.org.

The North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival is co-sponsored by North Olympic Shuttle & Spindle Guild, the local spinning and weaving guild, and Museum and Art Center. It is produced with the assistance of several local fiber arts groups, artists and fiber-friendly businesses.
