Survival class in Blyn

Tribal Edge primal arts training center holds a survival class from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at its property in Blyn.

This basic class includes emergency survival and essential principles of being at home anywhere on the planet. It focuses on awareness, safety, emergency shelters, locating and purifying water, building fire without matches and food sources.

The class is for those 12 and older. Children under 12 may participate if a parent attends.

The cost is $80 and includes dinner.

This class is a prerequisite for the Primitive Living weekend intensive.

Mushroom show

The Olympic Peninsula Mycological Society's Mushroom Show will be held from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in the Arts Building at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St., Port Townsend.

Experts will identify any mushrooms visitors bring in.

The show also will include a sales table with mushroom books, cultivation table with kits for sale, and samples and identification of local wild mushrooms divided into edible, questionable and poisonous. Free.



Learn about branding

A free workshop, "Image Is Everything - Branding and Marketing for the Arts," will run from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at The Lodge at Sherwood Village's Media Room, 660 W. Evergreen Farm Way, near Old Olympic Highway and Fifth Avenue in Sequim.

Presenter Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond will cover the basics of branding to build familiarity with your organization/business, how to articulate your message, demonstrate credibility, solidify loyalty and inspire your audience.

The workshop is sponsored by Sequim Humanities and Arts Alliance.
