The Clallam County commissioners invite residents to participate in county government on the following advisory committees. Fourth St., Port Angeles, or obtain the application online at www.clallam.net. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. Jan. 12. The committees and number of openings follow:
Animal Issues Advisory Committee (2)
This committee serves as a liaison between commissioners and the county's contractor for animal shelter services. The District III and tribal government positions are open, serving three-year terms.
Boundary Review Board (1)
Autonomous board that, upon request, reviews proposals and determines logical boundaries, transfers of services and other matters. Operates under the authority of RCW 36.93. Public meetings held as necessary.
Carlsborg Community Advisory Council (3)
Advisory liaison between the citizens of the Carlsborg urban growth area, the planning commission and the county commissioners. The Parkwood resident, Carlsborg industrial zone property owner and at-large member positions are open, serving three-year terms.
Clallam Bay-Sekiu Sewer Advisory Committee (1)
Gathers accurate information regarding Clallam Bay-Sekiu sewer operations, rates and billing procedures, and makes recommendations to the commissioners. There is one position, serving a two-year term.
Crescent Community Advisory Council (3)
Liaison between the Crescent School District-area residents and the county commissioners on issues such as land use, economic development, transportation and pedestrian improvements, capital projects and services, and community projects and activities. The at-large, Crescent School District student rep., and Crescent School District alternate student rep. positions are open, serving three-year terms.
Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee (5)
Advisory group plans and makes recommendations to the commissioners and the Department of Health and Human Services about programs and services for persons who have mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, other neurological impairments, or developmental disabilities and their families through service contracts with provider agencies. Two positions are designated for people with developmental disabilities. There are five open positions, serving three-year terms.
Homelessness Task Force (1)
Advises the commissioners on matters related to homelessness in the county. The representative of the homeless or formerly homeless position is open, serving a four-year term.
Lake Sutherland Steering Committee (2)
Comprised of property owners within the Lake Sutherland Management District. There are two open positions, serving five-year terms.
Marine Resource Committee (1)
Advises the commissioners on marine resource issues of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, its bays, estuaries and inlets within the county. The commercial fishers position is open, serving a four-year term.
Permit Advisory Board (8)
Makes recommendations to commissioners for changes in the Clallam County Building Code. The architect, building designer, certified septic designer/installer, code consultant, two positions in the homebuilders' associations, manufactured homes/mobile home association and the energy industry categories are open, serving two-year terms.
Planning Commission (1)
This nine-member advisory board assists the commissioners through the Department of Community Development. It reviews land-use policy and related issues including comprehensive land-use plans and planning ordinances. The District I position is open, serving a four-year term.
Public Health Advisory Committee (4)
Advises, plans for and makes recommendations to the Board of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services regarding community assessment information, public health policy options and emerging concerns. There are four positions open, serving three-year terms.
Solid Waste Advisory Committee (4)
The committee assists in the implementation of programs and policies concerning solid waste handling and disposal, and reviews and comments on proposed changes to the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan. The at-large, city of Port Angeles, state and federal agencies, and private industry positions are open, serving two-year terms.
