Licensed counselor and nurse Dr. Dorothea Hover-Kramer will be the presenter at a free 90-minute community Wellness Forum offered at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic. The clinic is at the rear of the Sequim Medical Plaza at 777 N. Fifth Ave.

"It is estimated by medical science that over 80 percent of physical illness is related to human stress rather than causative organisms. Even in a calmer environment such as Sequim, emotional stress, anxiety and worry leads to breakdown of the immune system's defenses," Hover-Kramer said.

She feels it is essential to begin the new year with an understanding of personal stressors and the easily learned ways of reducing their harming effects. Hover-Kramer has been a leader in the field of holistic health for more than 30 years and is the author of seven books about energy therapies including "Second Chance at Your Dream," a book filled with energy self-care exercises.

The monthly Wellness Forums are sponsored by WOW! (Working on Wellness) a program of Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic in collaboration with the Sequim Gazette. Call-582-0218 for more information or to ensure you have a seat.

The clinic, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides free health care to uninsured and underinsured community members and is staffed by volunteer physicians and other health providers. The clinic's programs include wellness education, chronic health services and basic urgent care. It is open to patients on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5 p.m. To volunteer or donate, call 582-0218.
