Maloney Heights groundbreaking April 8

A groundbreaking is set next month in Port Angeles for the Maloney Heights Permanent Supportive Housing slated for 4.3 acres in the 2300 block West 16th Street.
It is a neighborhood of 28 houses for chronically homeless and 14 building sites for Habitat for Humanity self help homes.
The ceremony is set for noon Thursday, April 8 at 2317 W. 18th St. in Port Angeles.
Guests will include Port Angeles Mayor Dan Di Guilio, State Sen. Jim Hargrove, D-Hoquiam and Reps. Lynn Kessler, D-Hoquiam, and Kevin Van De Wege, D-Sequim.
Clallam County Board of Commissioners Mike Doherty, Steve Tharinger and
Mike Chapman also will attend.
The $3.5 million project is funded by the Washington State Housing Trust Fund, Habitat for Humanity, Serenity House and the city of Port Angeles' housing rehabilitation fund.
It is a collaboration of Serenity House of Clallam County, Habitat for Humanity, the Housing Authority of Clallam County and Peninsula Community Mental Health Center.
Funding to buy the property was provided by the late Maizie Maloney, aunt of Sequim Gazette owner Brown M. Maloney.
