Sequim Middle School students’ good intentions almost led principal Brian Jones and some teachers to shave their heads.
Students were challenged to bring in 3,000 pounds of food for the Sequim Food Bank.
They brought in only 1,160 pounds by the deadline, and staff allowed two more days during which 876 more pounds of food were collected.
Donations totaled 2,036 pounds of food and $340.
The school’s goal wasn’t made but history teacher Tricia Billes’ class, the top donors, brought in 814 pounds and received an ice cream party.
ASB adviser Caity Karapostoles said some teachers might shave their heads in May if the penny wars challenge, benefiting children with life-threatening illnesses, is met.
