Vacant house burns near Kirk Road

Clallam County Fire District 3 extinguished a house fire at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, on the north side of U.S. Highway 101 near Kirk Road.
The single-story wood-frame house was vacant but contained furniture at the time of the fire.
Fire Engine 33 crew members from Carlsborg reported the house had smoke visible from several sides.
Fire crews applied water from outside before extinguishing it from the inside.
“The crews did an excellent job of quickly stopping this fire. Suppression took less than 15 minutes,” said Ben Andrews, assistant chief and incident commander.
Three fire engines, two medic units, two assistant fire chiefs, additional fire district personnel and a Sequim ambulance responded.
The cause is under investigation.
