Clallam County will be featured in a digital video series to premiere on the county's website in the coming weeks.

CGI Communications, a New York-based multimedia solutions provider, approached the county last fall about producing a video series to showcase what the county has to offer for tourism, business and living, County Administrator Jim Jones said.

He said he hopes the videos will "help encourage people to come here for vacation or to possibly move their business here."

The videos feature clips of the Lavender, Dungeness Seafood and Crab festivals and other east-county attractions on top of central and west-end features.

"Some of the things that attracted us to Clallam County were Port Angeles as the county seat, its beautiful location and Olympic National Park," CGI managing writer Robin Taney said. "These are all things that are important to people watching the videos and possibly contemplating a move to the area."

The videos did not cost the county any money aside from staff time used to coordinate efforts or participate in the filming, Jones said.

CGI recoups the cost of the videos by signing up local businesses to sponsor the films, Taney said.

Taney said so far 10 businesses have signed up, including Olympic Peninsula Title Company, Angeles Furniture and Cornerstone Builders.

Filming was conducted in June and the footage is being edited by producers, she said.

Taney said the videographer shot a total of seven tapes and additional footage provided by the Olympic Peninsula Visitors Bureau was included. Also, area residents and business owners were interviewed on camera for the series, she said.

It will launch at www.clallam.net in the next few weeks, she said.
