The Sequim-based duo of pilot/photographer Dave Woodcock and author Tim McNulty, present a free slide lecture and book signing to celebrate their recently published book, “From the Air: The Olympic Peninsula,” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.

Two of Woodcock’s aerial photos of Crescent Bay and the Port Angeles waterfront are featured in the Center’s current exhibition, “Safe Harbor,” along with the works of 36 other Northwest artists expressing many shades of that theme.

But these are just a tiny taste of the large body of work that Woodcock has created in the skies above the Olympic Peninsula. Woodcock’s views of the diverse topography of this upper left-hand corner of the state map thoroughly explores both wilderness areas and man tamed lands.

McNulty, a by Lost Mountain poet and essayist, compliments the pictures with lyrical interpretive text.

Woodcock and McNulty will share the podium for a tour through the book’s images and provide commentary and back stories about the places pictured and the creation of the photographs themselves.

There will be opportunities to go home with an autographed copy of this book as well.
