This past weekend the Sequim Police Department concluded the "Drive Hammered Get Nailed" patrols. "Drive Hammered Get Nailed" is a statewide strategy that is part of X-52, meaning extra patrols every week in Washington in an effort to reduce traffic fatalities

and serious injuries.

Law enforcement agencies work together in specific locations where speeding and impaired driving are prevalent.

These extra patrols are funded through a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. Sequim will be reimbursed for a total of 67.5 hours of extra patrols.

During these extra hours, officers made 146 traffic stops, two of which were driving under the influence, wrote 15 traffic infractions, 120 written warnings, four warrant arrests, one criminal traffic arrest, two misdemeanor drug arrests, one dangerous weapon arrest and one search warrant.

X-52 is one of the ways that the Sequim Police Department is attempting to reach the Target Zero goal, which is to have zero traffic-related deaths or disabling injuries by 2030 in Washington.
