HarborWorks has been unable to negotiate an agreement for the purchase and cleanup of the former Rayonier Mill property on the Port Angeles waterfront and will dissolve in the next month, in keeping with its charter agreement.
The Port of Port Angeles and the city of Port Angeles formed HarborWorks in 2008 to lead the cleanup and redevelopment efforts.
The information collected by HarborWorks can be used for the ultimate cleanup and redevelopment of the site.
HarborWorks had received a commitment from the state Department of Ecology on Aug. 25 to set aside up to $4 million in cleanup funds and developed five alternative options for redevelopment.
