In conjunction with www.350.org's "350 Tree Challenge," the Lazy J Tree Farm near Port Angeles is giving away free noble or Nordman fir trees to those living on the peninsula.

The trees will be handed out from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the tree farm, which is located at 225 Gehrke Road east of Port Angeles.

Organizers note these aren't just seedlings. The trees are several years old, bare root, and vary from four to six feet tall. They will require space in your vehicle for transporting.

Jolie Will, a member of North Olympic Creation Care Alliance, is helping coordinate the "350 Tree Challenge," which hopes to plant 350 trees on the peninsula to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere.

Will says the Creation Care Alliance, a faith-based group interested in caring for the environment, is encouraging others to join them in this important work.

To date, some 6,450 events in 188 countries have been held in association with the effort.
