The staff of Clallam Title moved this week into their expansive new office at 205 W. Washington St.

The company serves the local real estate industry by preparing the documents for real estate transactions. That includes closing refinancing packages for lenders, said Paulette Waldron, the manager and limited practice officer of Clallam Title.

Clallam Title is one of three title companies owned by Port Townsend's John Nesset, who purchased the firm in 1992. The company has quite a history: It was established more than a century ago as the Clallam County Abstract Company. The company website notes: "Our records have been protecting homeowners and investors since 1890."

The new central location provides customers with greater convenience, Waldron said. She also noted the facility is larger than previous offices. The three staffers are keeping busy through the down economy, but Waldron said they're ready to expand as soon as the economy turns around.

The new facility was built by Little & Little Construction, a Port Townsend company. The extensive landscaping was installed by Sequim's Vision Landscape Nursery.
