Players from the three Sequim Wolf Pack teams wanted to give back to the community for its generous support and to recognize Sequim Food Bank president Stephen Rosales for all his help during the season, so they gathered more than 200 pounds of frozen turkeys and packaged food for the food bank at their year-end awards ceremony in November.

The Wolf Packs’ varsity team finished in first place during its inaugural season and the junior varsity completed the year in second place. Both teams fell just short of championship games in the playoffs.

“We made a great showing as a new program for our first season,” head coach Erik Wiker said. “I am really proud of our players and the coaches on all three teams.”  

Thanks to the support of dozens of adults, 76 Sequim youngsters ages 6-12 enjoyed an exciting season of supervised tackle football, club officials said. Each learned new athletic skills as well as the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship.

“We had a wonderful time,” said Wolf Pack board member Phil Langston. “We’re looking forward to making next year even better.”

Kathy Schock, Wolf Pack secretary, said the Wolf Pack season got rave reviews from players and parents.

“So many people pulled together to make this happen and the feedback we’ve received all season long has been so positive,” she said.

“Our end-of-year survey came back with 100 percent pleased with our program, and the overwhelming financial support from the community was amazing. We really couldn’t have done this without them.”
