A mobile home owned by Greg and Robin Money is a total loss following a fire that broke out just after noon today. The home, located in Cedar Grove Mobile Home Park, was occupied by Elizabeth Countryman, her husband Salud and two children. Elizabeth and the two children were at home when the fire broke out.

Clallam County Fire District 3 Chief Steve Vogel said there was also “some heat damage to the unit to the south,” with minor damage to the windows.

The mobile home was located at 80 Spencer Rd., Sequim, Space #11.

Lt. Robert Rhoads said the call, received at 12:45 p.m. today, was quickly upgraded to a general alarm, with units from throughout the fire district responding along with medical personnel and water tenders. In addition, the Public Utility District, Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies, and representatives from the American Red Cross assisted with the call.

“Responding fire units found a fully involved single-wide mobile home engulfed in flame,” Rhoads said. Smoke was visible from downtown Sequim. All residents were out of the building when the first engine company on site began fire suppression operations.

The home is totally destroyed. One person was transported to Olympic Memorial Hospital and no firefighters were hurt.

According to Vogel, “Elizabeth’s swift action in getting the children out of the home was critical is preventing injuries or loss of life in this incident.”
