Irrigation artists win treats

Two Sequim classrooms were surprised with tokens for free ice cream from Dairy Queen for their outpouring of talent to the Irrigation Festival button design contest.
Sharle Osborne‘s fourth-grade class at Helen Haller Elementary and Alexandra Ogilvie’s first-grade class at Greywolf Elementary had the most entries in their respective schools.
Teachers received a gift basket including gift cards for their classes submitting the most entries.
This year had the most entries ever with 141 between the two schools in grades 1-5. Blake Wiker, 10, a Greywolf fourth-grader, won the contest and will have his design on all of the buttons that went on sale Feb. 15, for three weeks, by fifth-graders to benefit and promote the festival. Top sellers receive prizes.
The Irrigation Festival royalty pageant is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 26. The festival kickoff dinner is set for Saturday, March 26, at 7 Cedars Casino.
