The stars align for Sunrise Rotary Auction

With high-interest items like tickets to “Dancing with the Stars,” becoming a fighter pilot for a day, a European road tour in a Porsche, and much more, the Sequim Sunrise Rotary easily matched its past “Auction at The Hop!” events.
The ninth annual auction held March 18 at Sunland Golf and Country Club brought in just under $34,000 for local nonprofits.
The event hosted 150 people bidding on silent and live auction items with dinner provided and a performance by Dungeness Transfer from the Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus.
“Without the help of so many generous supporters we would not have had such an enjoyable time,” said Marc Lawrence, co-organizer.
Amanda Bacon, president-elect, said the event was extremely successful. She was especially thankful for Judy Sensintaffar, who led decorating efforts.
Silent auction proceeds benefit five local nonprofits: the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula Foundation, Dungeness Health & Wellness Clinic, North Olympic Foster Parents Association,
Sequim Education Foundation and Welfare for Animals Guild.
Funded separate projects include $4,300 for King’s Way Foursquare Church’s Haiti Well Project, about $2,000 toward technology assisting autistic students to communicate in Sequim School District Special Needs courses, and $1,200 for ShelterBox USA. Live auction monies support the club in the next year.
