The Olympic Peninsula chapter of the International Footprint Association held its fourth annual “Officer of the Year” awards ceremony and dinner Monday evening, May 9. Several hundred turned out to celebrate the accomplishments of law enforcement officials in nine different agencies serving the peninsula.


The event is held yearly in conjunction with National Police Week.

 

This year’s officers of the year are Master Officer Mike Hill of the Sequim Police Department (presented by Chief Bill Dickinson); Deputy Shane Martin of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office (presented by Sheriff Bill Benedict); Detective Cpl. Jason Viada of the Port Angeles Police Department (presented by Chief Terry Gallagher); Lt. Kevin Denton of the Port Angeles Fire Department and Lt. Trevor Warren of Clallam County Fire District 2 (presented by Chief Dan McKeen); Capt. Del Caryl of Clallam County Fire District 3 (presented by Chief Steve Vogel); Chief Engineer James J. Johnson of Clallam County Fire District 4 (presented by Chief Alex Baker); Trooper John Ryan of the Washington State Patrol (presented by Sgt. Galin Hester); and Border Patrol Agent Keith Fischer of the U.S. Border Patrol (presented by Agent Rafael Cano).

 

All of the officers were chosen for the honor by their own departments. Lee Wakefield, right, served as master of ceremonies.

 

The International Footprint Association is a civic organization that supports all public safety professionals.
