The Northwest Raptor & Wildife Center, the Sequim wildlife rescue and rehabilitation non-profit, reports that the duckling shot with 5-inch metal blow dart in a Port Angeles park has successfully undergone surgery to remove the projectile from its torso. The surgery was conducted by Dr. Jennifer Tavares of Greywolf Veterinary Hospital in Sequim, the veterinary partner of the Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center, and the duckling is currently recuperating under the care of the Center.

"This duckling is one of literally thousands of an animals who have had their lives saved thanks to medical services donated by Greywolf Veterinary Hospital," said Jaye Moore, the Center's executive director and founder. "We couldn't do our work rehabilitating and releasing animals without their help."

"The duckling appears to be in physically great shape, though he seems very traumatized and irritated by his current predicament," said Matthew Randazzo, the Center's president and public relations director. "We hope to release back into the wild soon so he can, if possible, reunite with his mother and sibling."
