Pvt. Bo Pinnell, a 2010 graduate of Sequim High School, completed airborne training at Fort Benning, Ga. He is stationed in Vicenza, Italy, with the 173rd Airborne Combat Team. He is married to Johanna Pinnell and is the son of Angie and Scott Dickson of Sequim and Louis Pinnell of Burlington.
Baby bloom, lavender love
Being mellow in the lavender was not a problem for 5-month-old Emelynn Barnes from Tualatin, Ore. She took smelling lavender for the first time in stride at Purple Haze Lavender Farm last week during the Sequim Lavender Farm Faire. She was intrigued by it, said her mom Maia, who worked at the farm as a high schooler and college student. "She loved it and was calm and composed through all our lavender pics," her mother said.
Natalee Jean Johnson, born at 2:20 a.m. April 27, is the new daughter of Hailey Scott and Matthew Johnson of Port Angeles. Natalee weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces.
Ann Fritts and Steve Stigler, of Port Angeles, welcomed a 9-pound, 13-ounce son, Jude Red Bird Stigler, at 7:19 a.m. June 8.
Kerrie and Joe Morrison of Port Angeles welcomed a 6-pound, 3.5-ounce son, Kayden William Morrison, at 5:28 a.m. June 25.
Braedon James Mitchell, born at 1:24 p.m. July 7, is the new son of Melissa and James Mitchell, of Sequim. Braedon weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces.
Angela and Matthew Springob of Port Angeles welcomed an 8-pound, 1-ounce son, Marshall Matthew, at 3:01 a.m. July 12.
Dallas Henry Cortez, born at 3:55 p.m. July 14, is the new son of Desirae and Dominic Cortez of Sequim. Dallas weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces.
Heather Puksea and Mark Hodgson of Sequim welcomed a 6-pound, 8-ounce daughter, Evelynn Agustina Hodgson, at 5:39 p.m. July 15.
Adamire is employee of year
Clallam Conservation District conservation planner Meghan Adamire recently was selected by the Washington Association of District Employees as the 2011 Employee of the Year.
Born and raised in Clallam County, Adamire holds a double-major bachelor's degree in animal sciences and rangeland management from Oregon State University. She manages the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program and the Family Forest Fish Passage Program and provides conservation technical assistance to livestock operations.
Adamire also is the lead staff person for the district's Soil Testing Program and the annual Native Plant Sale and edits the quarterly newsletter.
Footprint group names scholarship winners
The Olympic Peninsula Chapter 74 of the International Footprint Association has announced $1,000 scholarship awards for 2011 to two recent high school graduates who will pursue an education in public safety. The winners and their families were guests at the July dinner meeting held at the Elks Lodge.
Maura Mattson, scholarship chairman, and Lee Wakefield, chapter president, presented awards to Christopher Dahll and Preston McFarlen. Both are graduates of Sequim High School.
Dahll, son of Martin and Denise Dahll, will attend Peninsula College to study firefighting and earn an emergency medical services certificate. He is in the Clallam County Fire District 3 Explorer Program.
McFarlen, son of Bill and Penny McFarlen, will attend Peninsula College to study business with a career goal in law enforcement. He attends State Patrol Camp in Olympia this summer.
The Footprint scholarship program was initiated in 2005 and has awarded more than $10,000 in scholarships. The retired police and fire organization, along with supporters, has a membership of 138.

P.A. High School has 30-year reunion
The Port Angeles Senior High School Class of 1981 celebrates its 30-year reunion Aug. 12-14 in Port Angeles.
A mixer starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Zak's Tavern. The cost is $10 per person.
A dinner and dance is scheduled at the Port Angeles Elks Naval Lodge, 131 E. First St., Port Angeles, on Saturday, Aug. 13. Moderately Loud Rock/MLR performs. The cost is $55 per person.
A family picnic will be held at noon Sunday, Aug. 14, at Shane Park, at West Eighth Street and "F" and "G" streets, Port Angeles. The cost is $10 per person and $20 per family, which includes a donation to the Shane Park Playground fund.
Classmates from other graduating classes and former teachers also are invited.
