Family and friends are pulling together a benefit for Sequim native Mike Webster, 43, who is battling a Stage 4 cancerous brain tumor.

The 1987 Sequim grad has moved away a time or two but always has found his way back to his roots, says his sister, Shelly Allen.

She and a few others are hosting a benefit breakfast at Applebee’s, 130 River Road, from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, July 21.

Tickets are $10 each for pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee and orange juice.

Fifty percent of proceeds goes to Webster’s radiation and chemo treatments.

Allen said doctors deemed his tumor inoperable and treatments will last at least two years.

Webster was diagnosed with the aggressive cancer after moving to North Carolina with his wife, Annie, and two children under age 3. He and Annie started their family while living in
Sequim. He owns Apex Flooring Co.

This is the first time Applebee’s has held a benefit like this and the restaurant opens two hours early for the special occasion, Allen said.

Tickets are available at Sound Community Bank, Ohana Coffee Co., Bill Humphrey with John L. Scott, Shawnna Rigg with RE/MAX Fifth Avenue and Crumb Grabbers Bakery.

An account for donations in Webster’s name is available through Sound Community Bank.

The benefit breakfast will have gift cards and gift baskets from local businesses to be raffled off, as well.

For more information, call Shelly Allen at 461-4948.
