The annual Everything But Food Drive sponsored by JACE The Real Estate Company to support local food banks begins today, Wednesday, Sept. 12.

 

Donations of shampoo, soap, toothpaste, items for pets and babies, and all personal grooming items are being collected at 761 N. Sequim Ave.

 

This year, in honor of Jace Schmitz — who died earlier this year and who founded the annual event with his wife, Eileen — the event has been renamed The Jace Memorial Everything But Food Drive.

 

A trailer to hold the donations will be parked at the JACE The Real Estate Company office during the collection period.

 

Eileen Schmitz, who has managed the real estate company since it opened, said, “In memory of my husband Jace, I hope this will be our most successful drive ever. My husband loved this event and was the first in line to donate each year and the first guy out of the truck each year when we delivered the boxes of goods to the food banks.”

 

Donations may be made at either the Sequim or Port Angeles offices of JACE The Real Estate Company between now and Sept. 24.

 

A number of prizes will be awarded to donors as a means of thanking the community for the years of supporting this cause.
